Paris Romance

Paris is the elegant home of romance and the number one destination for passionate couples travel and dreamy elopements in France.

do, see, taste, find

Sunday afternoons in the summer a ragtime band plays on the Quai de Hotel de Ville at a little riverside bar called Peniche Marconet. You can go down there, have a drink, listen to the band above your lovers whispers, and maybe even do a swing dance or two. Check their website for music program and menu. Sunday is also the day to wander around the adjacent Marais neighborhood. The streets are closed to cars and the chic quartier is alive with street performers, charming cafes and handsome shops.

Of course the most romantic neighborhood is Montmartre with it’s tiny winding streets and breathtaking views of Paris. Make your way to the top of the hill crowned with the gleaming white domes of the Basilica of Sacre Coeur. From there you’ll have Paris at your feet and a two minute walk to the darling little village behind the church and medieval monastery. After dinner at one of the 19th century restaurants in the Place du Tertre, you can catch a classic French film in English (sometimes) at the Studio 28 - a quirky little theatre right out of a Wes Anderson movie

where to stay

If you like to wander and walk, find a place in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th arrondisement (districts). There are plenty of rentals and charming boutique hotels in those areas. You may pay a bit more, but you’ll save on taxis. We like the Pavillon de la Reine at the Place de Voges. It’s so cosy, romantic, and wonderfully located you won’t believe you are staying there.

If hiding out and waking up late at a secret address is more your ticket, check in to the Hotel Particulier in Montmartre. Warning: you may fall under the spell of that neighborhood’s 19th century romanticism and never venture out into the rest of the city. We’ll find you in 20 years wearing a beret and painting in the impressionist manner at a sidewalk café.

Lost in love

What is more romantic than waking up with your lover in the city of lights? Perhaps a slow walk along the banks of the Seine where you gaze lovingly into each others eyes and then across the water to the ancient stones that make up the Ile St. Louis? Or sharing a bottle of champagne under the shade of a giant white umbrella in the Palais Royale? Yes, yes and YES. That’s the kind of slow travel memory we craft at Travellur.

If you’re not already on our mailing list, click here to sign up and you’ll automatically receive Our Paris Loves - a quick reference to some of our favorite things in this elegant city. In it you’ll find simple pleasures like wandering the Marais neighborhood and wicked indulgences like chocolate soufflés at Le Recamier. But here I want to tell you about few things especially for you and your love. The incandescently romantic things that can only be had in Paris.

Not amazing enough? Okay, how about a private champagne cruise on the Seine at sunset; glide past the greatest monuments of France, just you and your love, while the sky streaks into flames of red and pink? Add a photographer to capture the moment for a lifetime. Or an elegant dinner at the top of the Eiffel Tower with unequalled views of the city below? How much time do you have because spectacular is one of my favorite subjects. Just call me later if you really want to get into it.

Or here’s an idea: sign up online for one of Travellur's Paris Day Toursand you're sure to get an insider's glimpse of hidden gems and polished treasures. It is the best way to personalize your experience and see some things that you would not have found on your own. We can customize it for romance or according to your lovers special interests. Why not surprise him/her with a uniquely tailored experience? If your love story includes a chapter at Versailles, of course you must go. It’s a bit out of town, but Travellur can arrange private transport and a guided tour.

when to go

Paris has it's seasonal moods, each with it's own charm. Summer (May-August) is warm, even hot, and very crowded and advanced booking on everything is critical.  Autumn (September & October) is my favourite time as the weather is fine, the crowds have abated, and prices go down. Paris has a melancholy beauty in winter which is a wonderful time to visit the architectural monuments which are too busy in the summer. You can have the Eiffle tower to yourself. Springtime (March & April) is a delight with cherry blossoms and wisteria bringing a femininity to Paris' classical lines, but the weather can be unpredicatable.

Imagine yourself in a cosy little apartment with views over the rooftops of Paris where you can get fresh croissants at the bakery across the street in the morning and bring them hot and steaming back into bed. Travellur will make sure you are staying the right neighborhood for the experience you want. Contact Travellur to book your Paris Romance experience whether it’s a cruise on the Seine or a professional photoshoot in a fabulous gown.
