St. Remy Day
2Pm SUNDAY, JUNE 18, 2023
Let’s pay a visit to the cutest town in Provence! Shops stuffed Provençal treasures, picturesque cafes, winding lanes and darling corner fountains are why visitors flock to this bastion of charm. It can be a bit busy in June which is why we’re starting after lunch with a visit to the ancient city of Glanum on the edge of town; a historical site that dates back as early as the 1st century BC. Discover the well-preserved Roman art and architecture a result of the romanization of Provence in in the first century BC. Walk through the ruins of the city and learn about the excavation that took place in the 1920s after the town had been buried under sediment for over 1700 years. Afterwards, we go to the village of Saint Remy. Starting at the center for a brief introduction to get your bearings, then you are free to wander, shop and eat until our 9pm return to your hotel. Must-do for shoppers, history buffs and anyone looking to enjoy a wonderful afternoon in one of Isabelle and Hakim’s top favorite villages in Provence. If you don’t want to do Glanum, we can drop you off in the town for extra shopping time.

Les Baux de Provence Day
3Pm MONDAY, JUNE 19, 2023
Discover two enigmas in one day on this enchanting day trip. Once upon a time, not that far away, there was a thriving village built into the steep slope beneath a castle perched atop a mountain, boasting vast views of the entire Alpilles region. Nearby quarries provided the blonde limestone used for the construction of the mighty castle and exported it throughout the kingdom. Centuries passed and the village was forgotten in time; the castle abandoned. Today the medieval village of Les Baux de Provence is a time machine where we can understand the daily workings of a 13th century fortress with reconstructions of trebuchets and tasteful reenactment of castle life. The village attracts tourists with the many shops, a few small museums, and little cafes along it’s stone paved streets. The ancient quarry, now transformed into the Carrières de Lumières, features a breathtaking light and sound show that centers around historic and artistic themes. This experience is on Isabelle and Hakim’s must-to list as it is not only mesmerizing but also a great way to escape the heat of the day. And the village of Les Baux is a must-do for the views alone. Highly recommended for kids, history lovers, and anyone looking to experience two fantastic & charming things in one visit.
3pm pick up, 3:30pm show, 4:30pm intro to Baux de Provence, 5pm time to wander & shop, 7pm return
